Camille Jacquet Blanc de Blanc Grand Cru Le Mesnil-sur-Oger NV

Camille Jacquet is an offshoot of a larger Champagne house, Jean Pernet, which was founded in 1959 but after generations of winegrowing in the region.  With 17 hectares, almost 40 acres, in Le Mesnil sur Oger, Vertus , Chouilly and the Epernay, Chavot and Leuvrigny vineyards, the third generation runs the house, having taken over from brothers Frédéric & Christophe who brought the house into modern times and pushed the Champagne boundaries.

Le Mesnil-sur-Oger is home to two of Champagne's great producers, Krug & Salon.  It is some of the best if not the best terroir for growing Chardonnay, with the sun soaked, chalky hillsides.  This Blanc de Blanc is a stone's throw away from the same vines that produce the fruit going into Krug and Salon and it is exceptionally delicious.  

For lovers of BdBs, Camille Jacquet delivers on all accounts.  Minerality, freshness, creaminess, acidity, it has it all.  After 36 months on the lees, there is a hefty dosage of 7g/L, of which 50% is reserve wine.  "It offers elegant notes of buttery brioche and flinty minerality, enriched by the depth of the reserve wines.
