André Heucq Héritage Brut Nature Rosé de Meunier Vallée de la Marne 2020

Champagne André Heucq is a fourth-generation estate in the Vallée de la Marne, founded in 1936 by André Heucq, a farmer who had long been quietly making Champagne for his own table before deciding to share it more widely. Each generation since has expanded the domaine while keeping its scale intimate and its farming deeply personal.

Today, André and his daughter, Fanny, farm nearly 6 hectares, 80% of which is planted to Meunier. In a region where Chardonnay and Pinot Noir often dominate the conversation, their vineyards outside Cuisles tell a different story. Beneath the vines lies a rare vein of green illite clay—a crystalline mineral soil that lends a particular tension and focused minerality to the wines.

The farming is certified organic and biodynamic in practice: horses plow the rows, natural ground cover is encouraged, and herbal teas replace chemical treatments. The winery itself is ECOCERT certified and self-sustaining, producing its own electricity, recycling wastewater, and drawing on geothermal cooling from a Canadian well system. Stewardship here is not a marketing line; it’s a daily rhythm.

Héritage 2020 is 100% Meunier, crafted as a maceration rosé with 24 hours of skin contact. Fermentation and aging take place in concrete and clay egg, with full malolactic fermentation, followed by 24 months on the lees. Bottled as Brut Nature, with no dosage, it is Meunier at its most transparent. The result is both textural and precise: the gentle grip and hue drawn from the skins balanced by the subtle breadth of concrete élevage and the lift of zero dosage. This is grower Champagne at its most personal—rooted in one village, one variety, and four generations of conviction.
