There’s a particular thrill in catching a domaine at the exact right moment. Before the scores. Before the scramble. When the wines still feel like a secret...
Our newest discovery in the Côte de Beaune is Domaine Barolet-Pernot, tucked into the hills above Saint-Romain and led by the young and preternaturally gifted Romain Barolet-Pernot. For generations, his family farmed exceptional parcels in Saint-Romain and Puligny-Montrachet — fruit so good it was sold off to houses like Olivier Leflaive for years.
Romain has changed that.
He’s reclaimed the family’s finest sites and is bottling them under his own name — organic farming, indigenous fermentations, élevage in aged casks, nothing to obscure what matters. The result is white Burgundy with lift, mineral cut, and that unmistakable high-altitude energy that makes this corner of the Côte de Beaune so compelling. The 2023s are electric and a very exciting find for white Burgundy lovers!
‘Les Pucelles’ bordering Bâtard and Bienvenue-Bâtard, offers layered citrus oil, white peach, and chalk, with a finish that lingers endlessly. Composed and architectural — built for patience.
