- WinemakerAnthony Yount
Anthony Yount built his winemaking philosophy around proving that thoughtfully crafted white wines could convert even the most stubborn red-only drinkers. Long before whites were taken seriously in Paso Robles, he was seeking out exceptional sites throughout the region, where calcareous soils, coastal influence, and cool nights do the heavy lifting. In his opinion, white wines should be the star of the show in Paso, not the understudy. He created Kinero Cellars to shine the spotlight on Paso Robles’ unique terroir and superior white wines.
Anthony earned his reputation at Denner Vineyards, crafting award-winning, crowd-pleasing wines and honing his skills alongside the elite of Paso Robles’ winemaking scene. Together with Ron Denner, he helped build a wildly successful business that was purchased by Gallo in 2022. Today, Anthony continues to consult for the picturesque Denner property, bringing his signature precision and artistry to every bottle. He's the kind of quiet talent that we take great pride in championing at ACME.
The Alice Grenache Blanc combines three vineyards from the Adelaida and Willow Creek sub-AVAs. All three are known for their limestone-rich soils and pride themselves on sustainable farming practices that enhance the vines' potential to grow grapes with high acidity and distinct minerality. Anthony fermented with native yeasts and allowed only partial malolactic fermentation, preserving some of the malic acid in the grapes, which gives the wine its crisp brightness. Indulgent aromas of cantaloupe and Asian pear mingle with lime and grapefruit. Five months of aging in terracotta and concrete softened the palate and enhanced the minerality notes of wet slate and chalk.
