When your name is Geneviève Janssens and your winemaking history includes being born into a French vintner family, becoming assistant oenologist at Robert Mondavi in 1979, being appointed Director of Production at Opus One in 1989 where responsibilities included creating the team, the environment, the program, and the day-to-day winemaking operation, and later becoming the Director of Winemaking at Robert Mondavi Winery where involvement with one of the world's premier vineyard sites, To Kalon, was part of her daily routine, the word legendary comes to mind.

In 1998, Geneviève, along with her award-winning, philanthropic husband, Luc, combined their efforts to create a micro-project where each could showcase their artisanal design, Genevieve in winemaking, and Luc in printmaking (showcased on the label). Together, this plugged-in, charismatic, power couple have their fingers on the pulse of both past and present Napa Valley.

This alluring blend is composed of 40-year-old+ vines of 81% Cabernet Sauvignon from the celebrated Block 8 of Hendry Ranch Vineyard and 19% Cabernet Franc from an ACME favorite, Detert, from their East Block, located within the historic To Kalon Vineyard and planted on original rootstock from 1949. The vines are carefully manicured and the winemaking process solely utilizes gravity flow techniques for the most gentle interaction.  "This wine presents a deep ruby color, revealing a fragrant bouquet of blackberries, cassis, and subtle baking spices on the nose. The palate is filled with rich flavors of black plum and sweet oak. It offers an opulent and velvety mouthfeel with a plush, smooth texture that is elegant and balanced.
