Guy Charlemagne Brut Réserve Grand Cru Blanc de Blancs Champagne NV

Champagne Guy Charlemagne is situated in the heart of the Côte des Blancs, in the small village of Mesnil sur Oger.  Father and son winegrowers have managed the house since 1892, and harvest and vinify solely from the family's 15 hectares of vineyards.  87% of the parcels are planted with Chardonnay and the remaining 13% is Pinot Noir.  Only their best plots make their way into the Grand Cru blends from Le Mesnil sur Oger and Oger, where Chardonnay reigns supreme and thrives in the limestone soils.  The vines are an average age of 42 years old, producing small and concentrated clusters of berries packed with intense aromatics and flavors.

The Brut Réserve Grand Cru Blanc de Blancs is hand-harvested and undergoes initial fermentation in stainless steel before two to three years of aging in Guy Charlemagne's underground chalk cellars.  "Pale yellow color, steady stream of fine bubbles, bright.  Very citrusy nose, where acacia and rose water balance each other out.  Creamy mouth with an exceptional length, the citrus notes (lime and pink grapefruit) give it freshness before melting into notes of fresh hazelnuts and yeasty brioche.  It is a harmonious wine, wholesome, full-bodied with very mineral aromas." ~Winery Tasting Notes
