Patrice Breton is a household name for any serious collector, and to us he is a dear friend. Every few months or so, Patrice will pop in with a bright smile to talk shop and stock up on white Burgundy. His brand, Vice Versa, has gained cult-like status over two decades of meticulous and strategic business. What began as a passion project turned into one of the biggest names in wine, and we got a front row seat to it all! Now with over 20 years of business under his belt and a state-of-the-art winery underway, Patrice has seemingly climbed the proverbial mountain all without spilling a drop of Montrachet. It's been impressive to watch!

While Vice Versa is widely known for their single-vineyard Cabernets sourced from only the best vineyards that Napa Valley has to offer, their newest addition to the portfolio breaks that stride to satisfy a different occasion - your week-night wine. Introducing SPINNING PLATES, Vice Versa's Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon. Brought to life by none other than Philippe Melka, Spinning Plates is a nod to the never-ending pursuit of balance in winemaking and Patrice’s love of music (à la Radiohead's song). Is it too on the nose to say that this wine rocks?

In it's third vintage now, Spinning Plates has really hit its stride! Drawn mostly from the warmer north end of the Napa Valley, this is a blend of fruit from vineyards in Oakville, Rutherford, Stags Leap District, and Calistoga. The final blend is always dominated by Cabernet Sauvignon, complimented by small additions of Merlot, Petit Verdot, and Cabernet Franc. This wine aged for 18 months after fermentation in stainless steel tanks with a 3-day cold soak and 29 days on the skins was complete.  Philippe used a mix of 85% new and 15% neutral French oak barrels for aging.  Aromas are brooding and dark-fruited, bursting with juicy blackberry and currant.  Touches of spice from the French oak meld with licorice, cigar box, and cocoa powder. Delicate and flawless tannins fill the palate, producing an alluring and full-bodied Cabernet with lively fruit, balance, and a lasting finish.
