It seems we all have that desire to build, to create, to research. The story we all associate with the man whose name is virtually synonymous with Napa Valley (Robert Mondavi) is that of a man who left big shoes to fill. His son Tim Mondavi worked with the family to create their next Napa legacy, the amazing Continuum Winery atop Pritchard Hill. His sons, Carlo and Dante Mondavi looked even further west. Carlo and Dante wanted to find a new expression for the family's love of wine. Carlo and Dante have spent years in study and the practice of winemaking and running the family business. With RAEN, their shining new chapter is ready for the world, and we are floored. These are the exceptional, balanced, and complex wines they seek, showcasing the best sites on the far western Sonoma Coast.
Family history is meaningful to Carlo and Dante (and how could it not be?) They recognize that those relatives who came before them were pioneers who paved paths and inspired them to make their own way in the world of wine. As such, they've dedicated this Chardonnay cuveéto their grandmother Marjorie. They credit her with teaching them the meaning of hard work and dedication. They say, "she will always be a bright light of inspiration." What better way to honor her than with a beautifully bright, vibrant coastal Chardonnay?
100% Chardonnay blended from the best barrels of two vineyard sites in the Fort Ross-Seaview AVA. This inaugural release reminds us of the delicious mineral-driven wines of Chablis with notes of wet stone, ripe white peaches, and white citrus blossoms. Those aromas meld into the same flavors on the palate with zippy acidity to match the elegant and soft mouthfeel.
