Michael grew up in the Central Valley farming town of Riverdale, where his great-grandfather settled after leaving Switzerland. He went to Cal Poly to study mechanical engineering before stumbling into an upper-level viticulture class that changed the trajectory of his life. His thoughts quickly changed, leading him to embark on a double major in viticulture and agribusiness while working at two different wineries. Admirably, Michael found time to offer his services as an on-call firefighter/EMT, which he felt compelled to act on after the tragedy of 9/11. His altruism garnered the honor of "Firefighter of the Year" not once but twice.

Michael's dedication and drive didn't wane after graduating college. He worked harvests in California and New Zealand. He held propitious positions with celebrated viticulture companies that allowed him to dive deep into the intricacies of the vineyards and the details of grape growing that differentiate the greatest-made wines in the world from the rest. These learning experiences were the impetus for his desire to launch a brand and a vineyard and winery consultation business based on intention and excellence. Not surprisingly, his benevolent character aligns with his ethos: "Aliis non sibi clemens" - For others, not for one's self.  Thus, on the Pinot Noir label is a pelican - that which embodies self-sacrifice and charity - and for Michael, that means to be the best he can be for others. Since his inaugural 2018 vintage under the Brvghelli label, he has reached the apex, producing what could unabashedly be declared as some of the best Pinot to be made in California.

A powerful yet graceful wine upon opening, this Pinot Noir engages the senses with succulent raspberry, boysenberry, pomegranate, and violets. Hints of dusty chaparral, sandalwood, and pronounced mineral follow with exotic spices. Cerebral yet precise, tension abounds through the mid-palate in a linear yet generous way. The long-lasting finish is complemented with candied red cherry and sea spray
