Isola della Falcole 'Vecchia Vigna' Toscana Rosso 2020

The journey of Isola delle Falcole began in 2015 when a young and passionate man named Emanuele decided to follow his heart and start a project with his two best friends. Not one of the friends had hit the ripe age of 30 yet, but their shared passion for fine wines and challenges led them to search for a vineyard in the Chianti Classico area. After several attempts, Emanuele, Alessandro, and Niccolò fell in love with a small piece of land located in one of the world’s best areas for the production of great wines: a single hectare 200 meters between Panzano and Montefioralle, facing south/south-east and located 500 meters above sea level. Only one name was possible for that little corner of paradise where falcons used to nest: Isola delle Falcole.

The Vecchia Vigna Cru is a field blend of 70% Sangiovese, 10% Colorino, 5% Canaiolo, 5% Ciliegiolo, 5% Malvasia, and 5% Trebbiano. The wine aged 18 months in large, neutral barrels and spent an additional eight months in bottle before its debut. This wine is a rustic interpretation of the old-school Chianti wines from a century ago – a hodgepodge of varietals all cofermented together to create a sum that is greater than its parts. Light and bright with firm tannins to brace the palate, this wine enchanted us at first sip. A unique and fun expression of Chianti that will delight your senses!
