June's Rose Sparkling Rose Austria NV

As you may know, we started the Pulse wine club nearly 20 years ago to allow our friends in the wine trade to have a club designed for their likes and interests. One that focuses on trends, varietals, and esoteric global projects that deserve to be discovered and enjoyed. And so it is very fitting that this month, we are featuring a wine made by an industry darling - June Rodil! June is one of only 29 female Master Sommeliers in the Americas. Since earning her title, she has built successful beverage programs for multi-outlet hospitality groups. As a wine buyer for restaurants, June saw a hole in the industry for an expertly-made and affordable sparkling rosé to offer by the glass. 

June met her winemaker, Markus Huber, while working a harvest in Austria. An unexpected friendship grew between the duo during the long hours spent in the cellar together. Their connection is grounded in their shared family experiences. So when it came time to design the label, they came up with the brilliant idea of creating a roll of their family photos and then shrinking the images to create an abstract picture. 

The wine is a bespoke blend of 50% Zweigelt and 50% Pinot Noir, all grown on Markus' certified organic estate in Traisental. The grapes were on their skins for 6 hours, lending a delightfully light and refreshing hue of pink. Notes of strawberry, peach, and apricot make for a lively and inviting bouquet, and the palate is equally as fresh with a lovely,  sharp line of acidity and a soft, plush fizz.
