Heitz Cellars Lot C-91 Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley 2017

The legacy of Heitz Cellars has deep roots in the fine wine realm.  Dating back to the early 1960s, Joe Heitz was one of Napa’s pioneering vintners who possessed a passion for authenticity, and a commitment to showcasing the unique expression of high-quality, single-vineyard terroir.  He established the globally renowned, very first vineyard-designated wine named Martha’s Vineyard. And after trailblazing this concept, there was one more distinction that Joe wanted to present: a wine whose sum was as intriguing as its parts!  Like Vaso is to Dana Estates, The Maiden is to Harlan, Matriarch is to BOND, Swagger is to Saunter, Mica is to Buccella, Impetuous is to Checkerboard and so on, Heitz’s inaugural Lot C-91 was born.  Consisting of 100% Cabernet Sauvignon, this cuvee was a tribute to the refined, iconic Heitz single vineyard parcels: Martha’s, Trailside, Ink Grade, Linda Falls, and The Only One. This wine was made only once, but nearly 50 years later, Heitz’s new director of winemaking, Brittany Sherwood, announced the 2016’s arrival - the second vintage of Lot C-91!

“Lot C-91 began in the fall of 1969 with the idea that through meticulous site selection and assemblage, we can create something more significant than the sum of its parts. It is the culmination of a half-century of tireless effort, trial and error, and the continual desire to make a unique expression of the heralded vineyards of Heitz Cellar. We are honored to re-release this cuve?e in honor of Joe Heitz.”

Sourced from the single vineyards of Oakville, Rutherford, St. Helena, and Howell Mountain AVA's, Lot C-91 is beyond special. We celebrate its abundant and pleasing aromatics of blueberries, cassis, plums, and spiced orange, as well as the longevity of savory elements of cured meats, rosemary, and sage.  Its outstanding depth, harmony, complexities, and luxurious texture bestow a sense that cherished memories shall likely ensue.
