Jolie-Laide Trousseau Gris Sonoma County 2021

Back again, and as strikingly lovely as ever, we are chuffed to present the Jolie-Laide Trousseau Gris from winemaker Scott Schultz. After years as a sommelier, and making wine in Napa (Realm), these days Scott is working with Pax Mahle in Sebastopol, and focusing on making tiny lots of the best wines to cross our paths in a while.  As in years past, his Trousseau Gris was exposed to just the tiniest hint of skin contact, which rendered the wine a delicate rose gold in color, with papaya fruit, cantaloupe, white flowers, cracked pepper, clean citrus and so much else on the palate. Fine work, Scott! What do we really think? WE LOVE THIS WINE! Jolie-Laide translates literally as Pretty-Ugly, but in actual usage, this expression refers to something which is unconventionally beautiful. This wine is just that. A veritable highwire act; light on it’s feet, wildly floral yet savory with a visceral depth. An inebriating blend of summer melon, stone fruit, white tea and wet rock weave with finessed length and elegant palate presence.
