As a fourth-generation winemaker originally from Burgundy, it’s safe to say Bruno Corneaux has Pinot Noir in his DNA. After earning his Master’s degree in Viticulture and Enology, he left France to work harvests in South Africa and Washington before finally settling with his wife Isabelle and children in Oregon in 2012. Today, he is a busy man- the founder of Voix de la Vigne, winemaker/proprietor at Domaine Divio in Newberg, and Director of Winemaking at NW Wine Company in Dundee. This sibling brand to Voix de la Vigne offers a 'southern accent’: a California take on Pinot Noir. With this label, Bruno remains true to the hallmarks of his style: medium-bodied, no new oak, low alcohol content, and NOT lacking impact or flavor.
The 2021 Accent de la Vigne is 100% Pinot Noir from Mendocino County, split between Pommard and Wadenswil clones. With its Northern California location and proximity to the cool breezes of the Pacific Ocean, Mendocino makes an ideal spot for finicky Pinot Noir. The fruit is completely destemmed, cold-soaked for three days before fermentation, and aged for nine months in used French oak barrels. This Pinot Noir is aromatically inviting and intense with bright red cherries, raspberry seed, allspice, and tobacco leaf. The playful palate toes the line between medium and full-bodied with loads of red fruit flavors and a hint of savory complexity. Pomegranate, cedar, and a hint of leather round out this incredibly pleasing and unheard-of value for California Pinot Noir. Refreshingly bright with loads of juicy fruit all the way to the finish, we are thrilled to showcase both elegance and finesse in a cost-friendly and food-friendly wine.
