Scarlett Cabernet Sauvignon Rutherford 2019

The wines meticulously made and carefully tucked behind these stunning Scarlett labels are a perennial favorite here at ACME, made by one of Napa’s most adored winemakers, Mike Smith. Vintage after vintage, Mike Smith’s wines are some of the most requested wines we procure throughout the year. Every release sells out almost immediately, resulting in a waitlist of clients pining for a bottle or two more. After working seven years alongside Thomas Rivers Brown, Smith now makes some of Napa’s most sought-after wines, including Carter Cellars, Myriad, Becklyn, and Ancillary. Scarlett Wines is a family operation owned by the McGah family, who is most notably known for co-founding the Oakland Raiders. Representing over four generations of winegrowers, the family’s personal touch is evident from vineyard to bottle. The picturesque McGah family vineyard estates are nestled just north of Oakville in Rutherford, bordering the Silverado Trail, in an area known as the eastern Rutherford Bench, which is prized for its unique terroir. The winery operated under the name ‘McGah Family Cellars’ until 2015, when they rebranded the family business in honor of its flagship wine, Scarlett, which was named after the founder’s daughter. 

"The 2019 MCGah Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon is brooding, complex, and beautiful. Amazingly intense aromatics showcase layers of black cassis, red fruits, graham crackers and earthy/dusty components known for this terroir. The mid-palate is perfectly balanced with massive amounts of blue and black fruits, followed by a full-bodied and buoyant mouthfeel that hovers across the palate spectrum. Perfectly integrated structure and polished tannins lead to a detailed and long finish that sails off into Cabernet Sauvignon supernova. A blend from five of our Cabernet Sauvignon blocks on the Rutherford estate, this wine showcases the unparalleled terroir of the McGah Vineyard.
