Marisa Cuomo Ravello Bianco Furore Campania 2021
- Vintage2021
- VarietyWhite Blend
The Amalfi Coast in Campania is one of the most picturesque regions of Italy. Steep mountain cliffs covered in terraced vineyards plunge almost vertically into the Mediterranean Sea below. The famous, white-knuckle-inducing, hairpin turns along this coastal drive are enough to merit a relaxing glass of the region’s crisp white wine at a local trattoria! Marisa Cuomo founded her estate in 1980 with just twenty acres of grapevines set among these famous cliffs. She specializes in the varietals indigenous to her native Campania: including the rare and elusive Biancolella and Falanghina grapes rarely seen outside Italy.
The fruit for her Furore cuvée is grown in tidy rows clinging to the limestone cliffside 600-1,500 feet above the azure ocean waters. You can almost taste the freshness and salinity of the sea air in this wine. The unforgiving landscape necessitates gentle hand-picking and the grapes are gently pressed upon arrival to the cellar. This blend is 60% Falanghina and 40% Biancolella and Marisa ferments and matures the wine in stainless steel tanks to lock in its inherent vibrancy. Star-bright yellow in color, this wine bursts forth with aromas of Meyer lemon and quince and graces the palate with a lift of acidity.
