As Jayson says, "The secret to Hundred Acre is no compromise, and no detail overlooked, ever." The single estate vineyard ARK is located just outside St. Helena, at the base of Howell Mountain. The vineyard spans a 180-degree arc of the sun over its half-mile length. Hot afternoon sun, known to damage aromatics in the fruit (on the hottest days), is blocked by the shade of Glass Mountain (named for the rare obsidian rock found in the soil and used for ancient weapons such as arrowheads), which rises to the western side of the ARK. This is an exceptional wine. Vintage after vintage, our customers let us know how they've opened their bottles of Hundred Acre ARK for weddings, graduations, or Monday nights after perhaps a very long day at work; it was always outstanding. Stunning with a deep garnet color and aromas of blueberry pie and baked plums layered with savory notes of grilled meats, roasted lamb, and tilled earth. The palate is full-bodied, has opulent black fruit, and a firm, smooth body that finishes long and fresh.
