The wines meticulously made and carefully tucked behind these stunning Scarlett labels are a perennial favorite here at ACME, made by one of Napa’s most adored winemakers, Mike Smith. Vintage after vintage, Mike Smith’s wines are some of our most requested wines we procure throughout the year. Every release sells out almost immediately, resulting in a wait list of clients pining for a bottle or two more. After working seven years alongside Thomas Rivers Brown, Smith now makes some of Napa’s most sought after wines including Carter Cellars, Myriad, Becklyn, and Ancillary. Scarlett Wines is a family operation owned by the McGah family who are most notably known for co-founding the Oakland Raiders. Representing over four generations of winegrowers, the family’s personal touch is evident from vineyard to bottle. The picturesque McGah family vineyard estates are nestled just north of Oakville in Rutherford bordering the Silverado Trail, in an area known as the eastern Rutherford Bench which is prized for its unique terroir. The winery operated under the name ‘McGah Family Cellars’ until 2015 when they rebranded the family business in honor of its flagship wine, Scarlett, which was named after the founder’s daughter.

2021 was a perfect growing season for the McGah family's old vine Rutherford Sauvignon Blanc blocks. Light straw in color with a green tinge, this wine has exquisite aromatics of Meyer lemon zest, passion and stone fruit, and freshly cut spring flowers. The perfectly ripened fruit sails throughout the mid-palate with a slight creaminess and seamless viscosity that seemingly flows into the finish. The most compelling aspect of this wine is its ability to straddle the ripeness of Napa Valley and the cooler climates it can be grown in. A few months in the cellar will further integrate the hidden nuances of this wine.
