Italy is known for its rich (and delicious) history of food and wine traditions. The family behind Vadiaperti wines has honored, and written, some of those traditions since the late 1800s. With deep familial roots in the old wine-growing region of Irpina, the Troisi family focuses on planting and showcasing the wines of heritage varieties. They've done so since the early 1900's when the patriarch, Antonio, moved to the U.S. to champion the pure wines of Irpina with his importing company in New York.

Raffaele (Antonio's son) was the first in the family to plant vines in their beloved hometown of Montefredane, where soils are abundant with minerals and the namesake volcanic ash rock, "tufo ." The Troisis consider their estate almost sacred, and it's easy to see why. The vineyards lay between 1,200-1,400 feet in the hills around Montefredane, benefiting from the mineral-rich soils, warm and temperate Mediterranean climate, and cooler air that settles at the higher altitudes.  As a result, their white wines are exceptionally balanced and express a finesse that shines in your glass.

With techniques and tricks of the trade passed down from generation to generation, the family launched its wine label commercially in 1984, and crafted the first-ever single-variety Fiano wine from the region. Soon to follow was their intriguing Greco di Tufo, an ancient varietal believed to have come from this historic region. We LOVE this wine for warm days as it is refreshingly bright. With notes of orange blossoms, chalky minerality, and tart green apple, it is a delightful pairing next to the fresh buffalo mozzarella and heirloom tomatoes on your summer dinner table. So dive into the season with a glass of this crisp white wine!
