The wines meticulously made and carefully tucked behind these stunning Scarlett labels are a perennial favorite here at ACME, made by one of Napa’s most adored winemakers, Mike Smith. Vintage after vintage, Mike Smith’s wines are some of our most requested wines we procure throughout the year. Every release sells out almost immediately, resulting in a wait list of clients pining for a bottle or two more. After working seven years alongside Thomas Rivers Brown, Smith now makes some of Napa’s most sought after wines including Carter Cellars, Myriad, Becklyn, and Ancillary. Scarlett Wines is a family operation owned by the McGah family who are most notably known for co-founding the Oakland Raiders. Representing over four generations of winegrowers, the family’s personal touch is evident from vineyard to bottle. The picturesque McGah family vineyard estates are nestled just north of Oakville in Rutherford bordering the Silverado Trail, in an area known as the eastern Rutherford Bench which is prized for its unique terroir. The winery operated under the name ‘McGah Family Cellars’ until 2015 when they rebranded the family business in honor of its flagship wine, Scarlett, which was named after the founder’s daughter. "The 2018 McGah Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon is a brooding, complex, and beautiful Rutherford Cabernet Sauvignon that can only be made in this storied appellation. The uplifting aromatics showcase multiple layers of black cassis, red fruits, and earthy components known for this terroir. The mid palate is perfectly balanced with abundant blue, red and black fruits, followed by a full-bodied mouthfeel that hovers across the spectrum of the palate. Perfectly integrated structure and polished tannins lead to a detailed and long finish that carries the signature Rutherford dust component that our wines are known for.
